Bronzeville Chicago
Bronzeville is a neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago where I reside. In the early 20th century it was known as the "Black Metropolis". The Black Metropolis was one of the nation's most significant landmarks of African-American urban history. During the 1950's and 1960's, housing projects were built in this community to isolate and concentrate the poor black population. Today however, those projects have been replaced with new businesses like Starbucks Coffee and new construction condos and townhouses.
