As I sit in the well lit classroom with noises of others talking, and the teacher helping other students, I am whisked away by the suddle yet calming sounds of the multimedia package I chose to watch “Dark Side of the Lens”. The way that the photographer and editor used the sounds of the water with the picture made you feel as if you were inside the wave with the surfers. I have watched many shows, packages, commercials etc. Never have I felt so encompassed by the small footage as I did with this package. I was not in class I was not sitting at a desk but in a wetsuit under the sea and inside one of the waves with the other divers. This by far was my favorite out of all of the films I watched.
The other video I watched had me totally captivated as well. However, in a completely different way. The package “Undesired” created so much sadness and dismay while I was watching this. I learned a lot however of the way that women in India were and in some instances still are treated. I was simply mortified! However the way that the photographer was able to capture the rawness of the culture all the way to filming the burned woman was, I’m sure, a very difficult thing. Yet, I don’t think any way else would have been as effective. The way that it shifted from still photos to film gave two different feelings. The photographs created a long lasting image in one’s mind while the film brought life to it. Even though this video was hard to watch the media choices were brilliant ones.
