Hello Everyone,
This is your classmate Shawn and just in case you were not aware, I am also the Vice- President of the Student Government Association here at KKC. Please feel free to speak to me about questions, problems, concerns, ideas, and feedback you may have about KKC campus issues. Remember we are all in this school together and it will take all of us to make the changes we need.
But however, my topic of the day is the lack of MEANINGFUL intimate relationships. It seems in today's society people do not value or respect committed relationships or marriage. For example, the video I included in my blog illustrates my point (although I must admit it is one of my all time favorite Donnell Jones song).
Donnell in this song is talking to a young lady that has caught his attention in a club and he lets her know in no uncertain terms that he wants to spend time with her, have fun, and even sex and that is all. As a matter of fact the lyrics can speak for themselves: " No relationships involved , gotta keep it strictly physical." He doesn't care that she is in a committed relationship because all he wants is sex. In no means am I the morality police and anyone who knows me understands that. If you are not in a serious committed relationship, both parties are legal consenting adults, and understands the tone of the relationship, then by all means have responsible fun. But blatantly disregarding a committed relationship is causing a breakdown of meaningful relationships and leaving many people jaded and tainted.

This is so true! I can't stand when a guy pulls the "what your man got to do with me" line, or play the, "I ain't trying to marry you or be your man I just want to take you out," card. They just wanna get off. I tell em "sleep with a pillow in-between your legs. You'll be alright."
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE SONG!!!..BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE THESE DAYS DONT!!! VALUE RELATIONSHIPS AND WHAT IT TAKE TO HAVE A VERY REAL HONEST HEALTHY ONE YOU KNOW!!.BUT YEAH I HEAR WHAT THE VIDEO IS SAYING..HE'S SAYING THAT AND HE FEELS SHES GONNA BE THE ONE..LOL..ETC..
ReplyDeleteIf someone is quick to get down with the quickie, and forget that they are in a relationship, then the relationship can be all that meaningful. Not that I am down with that, because I'm not. I am a die hard monogamous. I aint trying to share no man with nobody, not knowingly anyway.
ReplyDeleteI know right Todd, I must admit I too love that song, but as you said people just don't value relationships these days. What a pity, cuz even though it may be fun times for one or both parties involved, it could turn out bad if both parties are not on the same page. Thanks for responding. Love u lots xoxoxo

ReplyDeleteThanks for responding to my post. But you made a good observation that the relationship may not be all that meaningful in the first place, which speaks to my main point. What happens if one half of the couple sees their relationship serious but the other blatantly keeps stepping out on the other and when he/she finds out the person was cheating it leaves them hurt, jaded, or vengeful. People need to be upfront and honest and respect the rules of committed relationships or it may open up Pandora's box.
