X Mark the spot

Here are a few places that I've come across in my life that have affected me one way or another. Whether it was exciting, tragic, or life changing. I don't think there will ever be a time I don't come across these places and reflect on the experiences I've encountered.

Shuddeen's 3 Landmarks

Many people don't know that I was born in Jamaica. It could be the fact that I am very much a Chicagoan. I am a proud Jamaican, but I love Chicago with my heart and soul. Chicago has nurtured me in a way that I couldn't imagine. I have enclosed a link to the three Landmarks in Chicago that mean the most to me. The Wild Hare Reggae Club, Lincoln Park High School, and South Loop Elementary School.

500 yards to the finish.

William Caviness

William Caviness collapsed just 500 yards from the finish line of the Chicago Marathon. William Caviness, was a firefighter from Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was in town with his wife and child for vacation and made the decision to run in the Chicago marathon to raise money for burn victims. Since the his death firefighters and donors have pledged thousands of dollars for his charity.
Race officials say he went down near Roosevelt and Indiana where on lookers watched in disbelief that this was happening right before there eyes.
George Chiampas,Medical Director for the Chicago Marathon says:
"We had an immediate response of 5-6 emergency physicians in that area, approximately 25-50 meters away who responded to this individual. They provided immediate care and assisted in transporting him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away about an hour and 45 minutes after we made contact with the individual,"
Sunday’s death is the first Chicago marathoner to die since 2007. When a detroit police officer ran the race and die during extreme heat conditions, and the race was cancelled that year due to his death.

LeKenya's Important Landmarks

These are the landmarks that are important to me. I choose UIC Hospital because that is where my son was born, I choose University of Chicago Hospital because that is where I found a doctor that would perform surgery on my leg to replace my ligaments, and I choose Kennedy-King College because this is where I found my love for television production.

My first landmark,The Sears Tower (not the Willis Tower), represents Chicago 2 the fullest!!!

My second landmark, James G. Blaine, is by far the greatest school in my mind (and heart). The friends that I met in the Lakeview area are some of the dearest in y heart. These are lifetime friends to me...I love them all. This is home 2 me.

Last but not least is Mather High School. This school reminds me of all the great people and the extremely fun times that my family and friends had there. Thank you 2 every1 that went there while I was there, you helped mold me in a special way LOL.
