I live in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood, one of the oldest communities in Chicago. This neighborhood once was home to the Edgewater Beach Hotel. That building was demolished in 1967, but the Edgewater Beach Apartments still remain.

This slideshow gives us a graphic look at the year in crime in Chicago in 2013. During that year, Chicago led the nation with 506 homicides and almost 3,000 additional shootings. Later, it was revealed that Chicago police undercounted the number of shooting in the city. This was written about in reports in the Chicago Tribune.
